Great place to stop on a bike run, great space in the loos for getting through all the gear to do your business. Great to cycle the causeway as the tide never makes it impassable.

Lovely place for a bracing walk! A very pleasant place to walk your dog or get some sea air. Unfortunately a lot of dog walkers throw their filled waste bags down instead of using the bins provided.

Great walk round a small island which is cut off at high tide. Ample parking with benches to sit on. Grassed area where the car park is and then a ramp from here down to the sea. There is a tarmac path alongside the sea and out to the island. THE ISLAND IS CUT OFF AT HIGH TIDE. lots of wildlife and very nice if the weather is good. A bit on the exposed side if it isn't. The island has a path around/over it with benches to sit on.

This place can be found off the carriageway between Newtownards and Comber. Two car parks upper and lower. Male and female toilets. Path with disabled rail and suitable for wheelchair users leading to pathway which leads to an island on a hill hence the name. Tides change every 6 hours (check the app) when the tides in the path leading to the "island " is under approx 4ft of water. We used to camp overnight as teenagers!! Long time ago.In summer an ice cream van parks in the car park. Popular with dog walkers...families and couples. Quite a long bendy (don't drive too fast) road to reach the place.Take a towel and water for the dog .... dogs are trained here in the water. There's a small sandy beach on the island however lots of large boulders seaweed closer to the water near the car park. Totem pole has been removed and a concrete block explaining that birds flock to the location from Canada is quitely interesting. Popular with young couples all year round.

Worthwhile checking high and low tide times before visiting as it can make or break a visit. Either way though, a beautiful location on Strangford Lough. Visit at the right time (when it's not busy) and this island will feel like it's your own little paradise. It's not a particularly large island nor hugely exciting, however the views from it are stunning and the sense of being away from the hustle and bustle is absolutely unbeatable. Definitely worth a visit or 10.
